Leaked Document Reveals Ukraine’s Military Aid Request List from Germany

German newspaper BILD has obtained a detailed list of weapons and defense equipment that Ukraine has formally requested from the German government. Verified by defense industry and military sources, the document highlights Kyiv’s urgent priorities—particularly in air defense systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and armored vehicles.

Air Defense a Top Priority

According to the leaked information, Ukraine has expanded its demand for German-made IRIS-T air defense systems. Kyiv is requesting four IRIS-T SLM surface-to-air missile systems, 1,500 medium-range IRIS-T SLM missiles, and 500 short-range IRIS-T SLS missiles. To strengthen its defenses against Russian drone attacks, Ukraine has also included 200,000 rounds of 40mm anti-aircraft ammunition in the list.

Armored Mobility Needs

Ukraine is also seeking extensive support for its ground forces. The list includes 1,000 mine-resistant armored vehicles, 200 tracked armored personnel carriers, 30 mine-clearing vehicles, and between 20 to 30 WiSENT-type armored combat support vehicles. In addition, 200 SUV-type off-road vehicles are requested to enhance the mobility of special operations forces.

Focus on Electronic Warfare Systems

Recognizing the critical role of electronic dominance in modern warfare, Kyiv is requesting 1,000 GPS jamming systems and 200 mobile ground radar units. These systems are considered essential in detecting and neutralizing Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations.

Berlin’s Response and Budget Capacity

While the German Ministry of Defense has refrained from commenting on the leaked list citing security concerns, BILD notes that Berlin possesses both the technical capacity and financial means to fulfill these demands. Germany’s military aid budget for Ukraine in 2025 has been increased to €8.3 billion—an indication of its potential readiness to support further requests.

Toward a Deeper Defense Posture

The leaked document suggests that Germany’s support for Ukraine extends beyond immediate battlefield supplies, reflecting Kyiv’s broader ambition for a long-term defense transformation and military modernization. The list offers a striking snapshot of Ukraine’s strategic needs on the front lines.
