LANDEURO 2025: Red Cat Holdings Unveils TRICHON – A Next-Gen Fixed-Wing VTOL Drone for ISR Missions

At the LANDEURO 2025 exhibition, Red Cat Holdings showcased its latest innovation: the TRICHON, a fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone designed for medium-range reconnaissance missions. Still under development, this unmanned aerial system (UAS) targets military users seeking flexible and rugged ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities for operations in complex environments.

Built as a durable military tricopter, TRICHON is engineered to perform tasks such as mapping, infrastructure inspection, and real-time intelligence collection. Its VTOL design allows smooth transitions between hovering and forward flight, providing enhanced agility in confined or difficult terrain. The drone’s tool-free payload bay allows rapid switching between optical sensors, ISR equipment, and other mission-specific gear—boosting adaptability for multi-domain operations.

The U.S. Army stands to benefit from TRICHON’s capabilities, particularly in missions requiring long endurance, quiet operation, and the ability to hover. It would serve as a longer-range complement to Red Cat’s Black Widow drone—already selected under the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program—enhancing overall ISR coverage and autonomy.

Headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and listed on Nasdaq (RCAT), Red Cat Holdings develops autonomous robotic systems across air, land, and sea domains. The TRICHON is part of its broader “Family of Systems” ecosystem, which also includes:

Black Widow: a compact tactical ISR drone,

FANG: the first NDAA-compliant FPV drone designed for precision strikes.

The company is actively contributing to the U.S. government’s goal of building a resilient domestic drone industry, advocating for regulatory reform and accelerated production of U.S.-made systems. Strategic partnerships with AI and computer vision leaders like Palantir, Palladyne AI, Athena AI, and Primordial Labs ensure Red Cat’s drones are equipped with cutting-edge autonomous capabilities.

Ultimately, TRICHON reflects Red Cat’s commitment to supplying armed forces with mission-adaptable aerial platforms, supporting both technological sovereignty and interoperability across allied defense ecosystems.
