Roketsan showcased its lightweight, infrared-guided KARAOK anti-tank missile system at LandEURO 2025, aiming to expand its footprint beyond Turkey’s borders. Currently operational with the Turkish Armed Forces, KARAOK is now set to enter international service, with Malaysia becoming its first confirmed export customer. Initial deliveries are slated for early 2026.
With a total weight under 16 kg, the KARAOK is highly portable and designed for use by a single soldier. Its 125 mm missile is launched from a compact tube and powered by a dual-thrust hybrid engine, making it ideal for engagements in confined environments such as urban warfare. This motor enables safe indoor launches and rapid acceleration toward targets.
The missile employs an Imaging Infrared (IIR) seeker, providing fire-and-forget capability. Once launched, it autonomously homes in on its target, allowing the operator to immediately retreat or reposition. KARAOK maintains accuracy in low-visibility or night-time conditions, significantly improving survivability.
It supports two engagement profiles: a direct-hit mode for frontal assaults, and a top-attack mode targeting the upper armor of vehicles—typically their most vulnerable spot.
Armed with a tandem-charge shaped warhead, the missile is engineered to defeat Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA). It neutralizes the outer reactive layer before breaching the main armor, making it effective against modern main battle tanks and armored vehicles. KARAOK boasts a range of 2.5 km, offering tactical flexibility in both close-quarters and rapid-response operations.
Malaysia is replacing its legacy Russian Metis-M systems with KARAOK, having ordered 18 launchers and over 100 missiles, along with a full training package including simulators and live-fire exercises. Roketsan is optimistic this deal will open doors to further sales across Southeast Asia and beyond.
As part of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, Roketsan draws on its experience with the OMTAS and UMTAS systems to deliver a next-generation, mobile anti-armor solution. The KARAOK’s growing adoption highlights its promise as a compact and autonomous weapon for modern infantry forces worldwide.
