At the IDEF 2025 defense exhibition in Istanbul, Turkish defense technology firm Nero Industries introduced its latest innovation: the GLD-466 laser-guided FPV drone. Purpose-built for precision strike missions, the GLD-466 combines affordability, speed, and accuracy — offering an alternative to more expensive loitering munitions and manned strike systems.
The GLD-466 is an FPV (First-Person View) drone designed for high-speed, pinpoint attacks. Capable of reaching speeds up to 160 km/h and carrying a 6 kg payload, the drone features laser beam riding guidance, making it highly resistant to electronic warfare. This technology ensures precise targeting even in jammed environments. Nero Industries has also developed two additional variants — GLD-464 and GLD-468 — offering different payload capacities (2 to 8 kg) and operational ranges (3 to 5 km). All models support plug-and-play integration with a 1064 nm laser designator.
The strategic relevance of the GLD-466 lies in its ability to bridge a critical gap between hand-held munitions and costly guided missiles. Its modular design and low training requirement make it suitable for rapid deployment in a wide range of combat scenarios, including urban warfare, asymmetric engagements, and GPS-denied zones. As armed forces globally seek scalable, low-cost strike options, Nero’s platform introduces a practical solution for saturation tactics and swarm operations.
The GLD-466 arrives as Türkiye’s defense ecosystem matures and diversifies beyond long-range UCAVs like Bayraktar TB2. With GLD-466, Türkiye positions itself as not only a leader in strategic drone systems but also in the emerging FPV combat space. The drone offers high lethality in a compact package — suitable for precision raids or disruption missions — without putting operators at risk.
