At the IDEF 2025 exhibition held in Istanbul, Roketsan introduced the containerized launcher version of its newly developed EREN loitering munition system, transforming the face of mobile deep-strike operations. Disguised as a civilian freight container mounted on a truck, the system allows for the covert deployment of 12 high-speed loitering munitions. This innovation marks a significant turning point in Türkiye’s approach to flexible, survivable, and easily deployable precision strike capabilities. With both domestic and export potential, it reflects growing global interest in multi-role, modular weapons platforms.
At the heart of this new launch concept lies the EREN munition itself—a 35-kilogram, jet-powered loitering weapon designed to engage both land and aerial targets. With a range exceeding 100 kilometers and a flight endurance of over 15 minutes, EREN uses an optical terminal seeker for high-precision targeting. Rather than focusing on extended flight duration, the system prioritizes high-speed strikes and multi-platform compatibility. It can be launched from UAVs, helicopters, land and naval assets—and now, for the first time, from a concealed truck-mounted container launcher.
The development of this containerized launcher highlights Roketsan’s responsiveness to modern combat demands—particularly the need for low-signature, highly mobile systems that can survive in contested environments. Drawing parallels with the stealthy Kara Atmaca container-based system also displayed at IDEF, the new EREN launcher offers operational flexibility while minimizing the risk of detection or preemptive targeting. Its external design, identical to standard civilian logistics containers, gives forces a tactical advantage in ambush-based or dispersed battlefield environments.
Compared to traditional loitering munitions like Israel’s Harop or heavier anti-tank systems such as UMTAS, EREN offers a unique balance of speed, warhead capacity, and dual-role capabilities in a lightweight frame. With its multi-role nature and the newly introduced container launcher, EREN becomes an effective asset for swarm attacks, autonomous engagements against drones, or precise strikes on high-value ground targets—all with minimal logistical burden. This makes EREN an indispensable tool for modern hybrid warfare, where agility, deniability, and rapid redeployment are critical.
Strategically, the unveiling of the containerized EREN launcher signals Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to building deterrence through survivable, cost-effective technologies. For the Turkish Armed Forces, the system enhances rapid-response capabilities against asymmetric threats and supports dispersed operations in highly dynamic theaters. On a geopolitical level, it underscores Türkiye’s ambition to become a leading exporter of tactical strike systems suited for both conventional and grey-zone conflicts. It also presents a model for how NATO and non-aligned nations can adapt to the evolving nature of modern warfare—where “being visible” increasingly means “being vulnerable.”
By showcasing the truck-mounted containerized EREN launcher at IDEF 2025, Roketsan cements its position as a pioneer of next-generation strike systems that combine precision, mobility, and concealment in a single operational package. This latest evolution in the EREN family reflects a doctrinal shift toward more dispersed, adaptable, and layered defense strategies—one in which Türkiye aims to play a central role.
