Aertec DAS’s TARSIS family of drones has been tested and integrated into solutions developed for the Spanish Armed Forces.
Spain-based Indra Group has strengthened its position in the UAS sector by acquiring Aertec Defence & Aerial Systems (DAS), a company specialized in unmanned aerial systems.
This acquisition enhances Indra’s ability to compete for and secure contracts within the ReArm Europe program, which encompasses over €800 billion in defense investments and recognizes UAS as a critical capability.
Indra aims to accelerate the growth of this Andalusian company, opening doors to new projects and opportunities in a segment with significant global expansion potential.
Aertec DAS manufactures medium-sized UAS weighing up to 150 kg.
The company’s TARSIS family of tactical systems has been tested and integrated into solutions for the Spanish Armed Forces.
Through this acquisition, Indra plans to strengthen its weapons and ammunition division while expanding its portfolio, which already includes anti-drone systems, precision-guided systems, directed energy systems, and unmanned vehicles.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Indra Group Executive Chairman Ángel Escribano said: “This operation is part of Indra’s strategy to become a national leader in developing complete medium-sized UAS solutions at a time when the market demands such capabilities. With the addition of Aertec DAS, the company has reinforced its new weapons and ammunition division focused on anti-drone systems, precision-guided systems, directed energy systems, and unmanned vehicles.”
While Indra has experience managing large international programs, Aertec DAS contributes industrial UAS production capacity and technological expertise with its team of 46 professionals.
Aertec DAS’s TARSIS UAS family is equipped with technology for observation and surveillance applications, offering low technological risk.
Headquartered at Malaga TechPark, Aertec DAS’s development center and final assembly line (FAL) are located in the Seville Aerospace Technology Park, Aerópolis.
The integration of Aertec DAS will also enable the establishment of a drone technology hub in Seville, enhancing the region’s industrial and engineering capabilities.
Squire Patton Boggs acted as legal advisor to Indra on the transaction.
