The Gölbaşı Technology Base witnessed a historic day. The ceremony, hosted by ASELSAN Chairman Ahmet Akyol, welcomed the President and distinguished guests. In his speech, Akyol described ASELSAN’s story as “the realized dream of the Turkish nation,” emphasizing that the progress made over the past 20 years is directly linked to the country’s strategic vision.
Highlighting pivotal moments in the defense industry, Akyol noted that the decisions made by the Defense Industry Executive Committee in 2004 changed the course of Turkey’s destiny. “Since that day, ASELSAN has overcome every critical milestone. Today, we are taking the torch lit back then even further with three major initiatives,” he said.
The first initiative involved the delivery of 47 air defense, radar, and electronic warfare systems developed under the ÇELİKKUBBE program to the Turkish Armed Forces. These systems represent a crucial step in enhancing the security of Turkey’s airspace. Akyol emphasized that efforts will continue to increase production capacity, develop new capabilities, and equip the military with the most advanced systems.
The second initiative marked the opening of 14 new facilities, increasing ASELSAN’s mass production capacity by 40%. The third and historic step is the launch of a $1.5 billion investment at the 6,500-acre Oğulbey campus.
Akyol also highlighted ASELSAN’s export achievements: “We operate in 25 countries worldwide. In the first six months of this year alone, we signed export contracts worth $1.3 billion. ASELSAN leads not only with engineering expertise but also with financial performance.”
Addressing the contribution of young engineers, Akyol noted that the number of engineers coming to Turkey from abroad has reached twice the number of those leaving the country. “The National Technology Initiative is strengthened by the dedication of our youth. We are ready and determined to leave our mark on the Century of Turkey,” he said.
Throughout the ceremony, live footage captured by the ASELFLIR-600 camera on the AKINCI UAV was shared, and thanks were extended to all partners, especially BAYKAR, for their collaboration.
The steps ASELSAN is taking today are seen not only as the achievements of a company but also as a symbol of Turkey’s defense strength and technological independence.
