Czech Army Receives First CV9030 MkIV Combat Vehicles Under NATO Modernization Program

BAE Systems Hägglunds in Sweden officially delivered the first CV9030 MkIV infantry fighting vehicle to the Czech Army. The ceremony, attended by Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson and Czech Defence Minister Jana Černochová, highlights a key step in modernizing the Czech Republic’s armed forces and fulfilling NATO obligations.

The CV9030 MkIV is the most advanced variant of the CV90 family, combining firepower, protection, and mobility. Equipped with a 30 mm Bushmaster II cannon and twin anti-tank guided missile launchers, including Spike LR missiles with ranges up to 5 km, the vehicle can neutralize armored threats effectively. Modular armor packages, mine protection, and an active protection system enhance survivability, while its 1,000 hp engine and adaptive suspension provide superior mobility across challenging terrain.

Of the planned 246 vehicles, 39 will be produced in Sweden, with 207 assembled in the Czech Republic, supporting domestic industrial participation. Deliveries will continue in phases until 2030, allowing crews to train and mechanized brigades to integrate the vehicles while maintaining operational readiness.

This milestone strengthens the Czech Army’s operational capacity within NATO’s eastern flank, enhances interoperability with allied forces, and demonstrates Prague’s commitment to maintaining modern, capable land forces. The CV9030 MkIV combines battlefield-proven technology with industrial cooperation, securing long-term defense capabilities and strategic resilience.
