Poland Unveils Portable Warmate TL Launcher: Expanding Battlefield Flexibility

At MSPO 2025 in Kielce, Poland showcased a portable launcher for its Warmate-TL loitering munition, signaling a new step in the evolution of its indigenous drone warfare capabilities. This innovation reflects Warsaw’s determination to move beyond fixed platforms and armored vehicles, enabling greater mobility and operational flexibility. The tube-launch system, with its compact and versatile design, drew significant attention from international observers.

Developed by WB Group, the Warmate-TL can be deployed from portable launchers, ground vehicles, naval vessels, or helicopters. Its sealed tubes protect the munitions until release and allow rapid sequential firing. With interchangeable warheads—including anti-tank, thermobaric, and fragmentation payloads—the system can neutralize armored vehicles, command posts, and field positions. Offering an operational radius of 30 km and up to 70 minutes of endurance, the Warmate TL provides commanders with a versatile solution for reconnaissance, precision strikes, and even emerging counter-air missions.

The Warmate family has already proven its effectiveness in asymmetric and conventional conflicts. The TL variant, shaped by operational lessons, enhances survivability, accuracy, and ease of deployment. Unlike traditional missiles, loitering munitions fired from helicopters or ground systems do not immediately disclose the launch platform, delivering tactical surprise. Furthermore, control can be transferred from airborne to ground operators, creating an aerial “stockpile” of drones ready to engage priority targets.

Compared to similar systems, the Warmate TL stands out for its portability and modularity. While systems like Israel’s Hero-30 or the U.S. Switchblade provide comparable precision-strike capabilities, they are often limited in payload variety or platform integration. The Warmate TL’s compatibility with helicopters and other systems extends engagement ranges while preserving the survivability of the launch platform.

Strategically, Poland’s introduction of the portable Warmate TL underscores its ambition to become a European hub for drone warfare technologies. In light of the war in Ukraine and NATO’s strengthened eastern flank, the system boosts deterrence and interoperability while positioning WB Group in the competitive global loitering munition market. For Poland and its allies, the Warmate TL represents a forward-looking capability that combines reconnaissance, precision strike, and flexibility—key attributes for modern high-intensity battlefields.
