Turkish Defense Industry Chief Meets NATO Secretary General Rutte

Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye’s Defense Industry Agency, met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during the IISS Prague Defense Summit.

In a statement shared on social media after the meeting, Görgün said, “We discussed Türkiye’s strong potential in the defense sector, as well as the agility and coordination capabilities of our agency.”

Görgün highlighted that Secretary General Rutte once again praised Türkiye’s defense industry, noting:
“With more than 3,500 companies and over 100,000 employees, our robust ecosystem — from prime contractors to subcontractors — continues to make valuable contributions to NATO’s deterrence posture.”

He added that Türkiye is not only fulfilling its responsibilities within NATO but is also strengthening the alliance’s future through its indigenous defense capabilities. Görgün also stated that he would later take part in the panel titled “The Future Face of Europe’s Defense Industry,” where he would share Türkiye’s contributions to Europe’s collective defense vision.

Expressing his appreciation, Görgün thanked Secretary General Rutte for consistently emphasizing the growth of Türkiye’s defense industry and its role in NATO’s collective deterrence.
