Indian Navy’s ‘INS Trikand’ Arrives in Cyprus

The Indian Navy’s guided-missile frigate, INS Trikand, is set to dock at Limassol Port on September 22 for a joint exercise with the Cyprus Navy. The visit will also include a series of diplomatic and cultural events.

According to Greece’s Kathimerini newspaper, the Talwar-class frigate will open its decks to the public on September 23. On September 24, INS Trikand will participate in a PASSEX (Passing Exercise) alongside the Cyprus Navy before departing the region.

During the visit, several diplomatic activities are planned, including a reception on board with Indian High Commissioner Manish Manish and ship commander Sachin Kulkarni. Visitors will also have the opportunity to join yoga sessions organized aboard the vessel.

The port call forms part of an ongoing defense cooperation agreement between India and Cyprus, agreed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June, which includes joint naval exercises and regular visits of Indian naval vessels to Cypriot ports.
