An Israeli reserve soldier, 42-year-old Livneh Shalev, tragically died after suffering a severe allergic reaction to a hornet sting while hiking with his family in the Golan Heights.
According to a statement from the Northern Medical Center (Poriya), Shalev arrived at the trauma unit without a pulse and not breathing. “Despite the medical team’s best efforts, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, and we had to pronounce his death,” the hospital said.
Local reports state that the incident occurred suddenly during a family hike. Shalev was quickly transported for medical assistance, but his condition deteriorated rapidly. Sources indicated that he had a known allergy to insect stings.
The tragedy has renewed calls for greater awareness and preparedness for severe allergic reactions during outdoor activities in Israel’s northern regions.
