China’s GJ‑X Stealth UAV Spotted in First Test Flight

China’s GJ‑X stealth UAV, featuring a massive wingspan, was observed in flight for the first time during testing.

The aircraft was seen over the skies of the Xinjiang/Malan test area, with videos and satellite imagery capturing its maiden flight drawing widespread attention. With an estimated wingspan of 42 meters, the GJ‑X ranks among the largest unmanned aerial systems in its class.

Design and Technical Features

The GJ‑X incorporates a cranked-kite planform, a stealth-oriented design aimed at reducing radar visibility. Its underside features counter-shading paint, and the wingtips are equipped with split rudder surfaces.

The twin-engine-like structure, highlighted by a slight dorsal bulge and exhaust outlet, underscores the UAV’s potential for both extended reconnaissance and armed missions.
