Germany Unveils New PzH 2000 A4 155mm Howitzer With Advanced Fire Control and Digital Architecture

On November 19, 2025, Germany officially introduced the new PzH 2000 A4 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzer at the KNDS Deutschland facility in Munich. Featuring advanced fire control and modern digital architecture, the launch marks a revival of Europe’s high-end artillery production line and supports upcoming deliveries to Germany and Ukraine.

The PzH 2000 A4 represents the evolution of long-range, precision artillery platforms. Its new Centurion fire control system integrates with NATO-standard architectures and allows deployment of precision-guided 155mm munitions such as Vulcano and Excalibur for high-accuracy engagements.

Updated power and cooling architecture improves energy efficiency and provides expanded capacity for future electronics. The A4 variant focuses on digitalization, network integration, and battlefield survivability, directly addressing threats from drones and precision-guided munitions.

Future A5 versions are planned to include automated ammunition loading, improved gun laying mechanisms, and a reduced crew from five to three, along with optional features such as an indirect vision system for the driver, advanced optronics, and remotely operated weapon stations.

The PzH 2000 A4 positions KNDS Deutschland at the center of Europe’s artillery modernization efforts and meets growing interest from NATO allies for upgrades and new acquisitions.
