Nurol Makina, one of Turkey’s leading defense manufacturers, is strengthening its presence in Europe with a major move in Hungary. The company’s first international subsidiary, Nurol Makina Hungary, is now taking its operations a step further by launching a joint venture in Hungary aimed at defense production. With this initiative, the company not only intends to meet Hungary’s defense demands but also provide solutions across Europe.
According to Nurol Makina’s CEO Engin Aykol, 100 NMS 4×4 armored vehicles have been delivered to Estonia, and 56 Gidrán 4×4 vehicles to Hungary within the past year. Aykol emphasized that these deliveries are more than simple exports—they mark a strategic milestone in Nurol Makina’s long-term growth in Europe.
The new joint venture company, Gidrán Armored Vehicles, has been established to produce in Hungary. Aykol stated that the production facility being developed in the city of Győr aims to become a central hub for integrated engineering and manufacturing capabilities in Europe. He highlighted that one of their key motivations is to contribute meaningfully to Hungary’s developing defense industry, and that Nurol Makina’s technological expertise is being transferred in a way that adds real value.
Mutual Benefits in Cooperation
Nurol Makina’s activities in Hungary go far beyond product delivery. Aykol explained that the company is establishing a framework that includes engineering collaborations, training programs, and support for local industry—creating a mutually beneficial partnership. He added that collaborations with capable Hungarian firms are growing stronger as a result.
Vehicles manufactured in Hungary are also being prepared for export to various European countries. Aykol noted that there are promising developments expected soon, with aims to enhance both employment and Hungary’s defense ecosystem.

Marking 2025 as the “Year of Science and Innovation” between Turkey and Hungary, Aykol stated that the Gidrán Armored Vehicles joint venture is a tangible result of this growing bilateral relationship. He expressed eagerness to see the Hungarian-produced versions of Gidrán 4×4 and other tactical wheeled armored vehicles join the inventory.
