BAE Systems Delivers First BvS10 Vehicles to Sweden, Germany, and UK Under NATO CATV Program

BAE Systems Hägglunds officially handed over the first three BvS10 armored all-terrain vehicles to Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom on September 17. The handover, held in Sweden, marks the operational launch of NATO’s Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) program, designed to boost allied mobility and readiness across Arctic and Baltic environments.

The BvS10 is an articulated, amphibious armored vehicle capable of traversing snow, ice, swamps, sand, and mountainous terrain. Its modular architecture supports a wide range of roles including troop transport, logistics support, medevac, recovery, and command post operations. The CATV deliveries are based on the latest Swedish variant, ensuring participating nations receive a flexible, durable platform optimized for multi-role missions in harsh climates.

Under the CATV framework, NATO will receive 663 vehicles: 236 for Sweden, 60 for the UK, and 140 for Germany by 2028, with Germany placing an additional order for 227 units. This joint procurement model streamlines integration, accelerates deliveries, and reinforces interoperability among NATO ground forces.

The deployment of BvS10s signals a shift in NATO’s mobility doctrine. By fielding vehicles designed for the world’s toughest environments, allied forces are preparing for operations beyond conventional theaters, ensuring sustained presence and maneuverability on the alliance’s northern flank.
