After more than two years of devastating conflict, the announcement of a ceasefire was met with overwhelming joy in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Residents, along with healthcare workers and civil defense teams, poured into the streets to celebrate the long-awaited moment of peace.
As the ceasefire came into effect, Palestinians filled the streets waving national flags and chanting slogans. Having endured relentless bombardments for years, locals described the occasion as “a victory of resilience and hope.”
Children were seen with Palestinian flags painted on their faces, while ambulances joined the celebrations with sirens blaring in solidarity convoys. Citizens expressed their hope that the truce would be lasting and that the horrors of war would never return to Gaza.
