CENTCOM Launches Rapid Innovation Task Force to Field Tech in 60 Days

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the creation of a Rapid Employment Joint Task Force designed to deliver battlefield-ready technology to deployed forces in as little as 60 days.

The September 23 statement describes the task force as a bridge between front-line requirements and fielded solutions, aiming to provide counter-drone tools, sensors, software updates, and decision aids in weeks rather than months. The effort is directly tied to growing drone and missile threats in the Middle East and seeks to improve operational tempo and coalition coordination.

CENTCOM places equal weight on software and hardware, recognizing that a small code patch can unlock radar modes or add threat profiles without shipping new equipment. The framework leverages open architecture, containerized apps, and accelerated cybersecurity approvals to integrate rapidly into existing networks.

Recent live-fire counter-drone trials in Saudi Arabia are cited as a proving ground, enabling U.S. and partner forces to test systems together, validate performance under real-world conditions, and quickly deploy successful solutions.

The initiative sends a strategic signal that Washington intends to be a fast, practical collaborator on defense problems faced by allies. By cutting bureaucratic delays and streamlining deployment pipelines, the task force aims to boost deterrence and readiness in a region where drone swarms and missile attacks can escalate with little warning.
