Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer has revealed the refreshed livery of its KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft during its international debut at Dubai Airshow 2025, marking a significant step in the company’s push to expand its presence in key global defense markets. The updated appearance reflects Embraer’s intention to strengthen its foothold among U.S.-aligned nations, NATO members, and high-demand Middle Eastern operators.
Drawing considerable attention at the airshow, the KC-390’s new look features a darker, low-observable grey-green camouflage paired with a modernized visual identity tailored for global marketing campaigns. Company officials emphasize that the redesign is part of a broader strategy to elevate the aircraft’s visibility in highly competitive regions.
A New Identity for New Markets
The updated livery is at the center of Embraer’s rebranding efforts to position the KC-390 as the leading next-generation solution for mid-sized airlift and refueling missions. Target markets include the Middle East, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and NATO-aligned operators seeking a modern, interoperable transport aircraft.
The KC-390 showcased in Dubai is configured for tactical airlift and medical evacuation operations, equipped with an aerial refueling probe, self-defense suites, and a modular roll-on/roll-off medevac kit. Embraer confirmed that this configuration corresponds to the baseline package currently offered to international customers such as Portugal, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
Faster, More Efficient, Battle-Ready
As a twin-engine, jet-powered military transport, the KC-390 delivers significant speed and efficiency advantages over traditional turboprop platforms. Capable of lifting up to 26 tons—including armored vehicles and palletized cargo—the aircraft reaches 470 knots and operates effectively in austere environments requiring minimal ground support.
Momentum behind the program has increased substantially in recent years. The Czech Republic’s 2023 purchase of two KC-390s, intended to replace Soviet-era transports and strengthen NATO interoperability, stands as a major milestone. This deal followed earlier acquisitions by Portugal and Hungary, further enhancing Embraer’s credibility within the NATO procurement landscape.
A Modern Alternative to the C-130
With its expanding global presence and refined marketing presentation, the KC-390 Millennium is increasingly viewed as a modern, versatile, and interoperable alternative to legacy airlifters like the C-130 Hercules.
At Dubai Airshow 2025, Embraer’s message is unmistakable: the KC-390 is emerging as a serious global contender defined by operational flexibility, rapid deployment capability, and strategic autonomy.
