Korean Air Signs Record Boeing Deal Worth $36.2 Billion

South Korea’s flag carrier Korean Air has signed a massive agreement in Washington, committing to purchase 103 next-generation Boeing aircraft for a total value of $36.2 billion.

The order includes 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 Boeing 787-10s, 50 Boeing 737-10s, and 8 Boeing 777-8F freighters. Deliveries will be carried out in stages and are expected to be completed by 2030.

The deal was formalized following a meeting between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Engines and maintenance services included

According to Korean Air, the purchase also covers an additional $690 million contract for 19 spare engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International, as well as a 20-year maintenance agreement with GE Aerospace valued at $13 billion.

The company stated:
“This strategic deal will strengthen Korean Air’s partnership with the U.S. aviation industry. The investment will not only expand our operational capabilities but also enhance our global competitiveness while deepening commercial ties with the United States.”

High-level participation at the signing

The signing ceremony in Washington was attended by Walter Cho, Chairman and CEO of Korean Air and Hanjin Group; Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes; and Russell Stokes, President and CEO of GE Aerospace Commercial Engines and Services.
