Mali to Host Turkish Defense Industry

For the first time, Mali will host the “Bamako Expo (BAMEX) 2025,” a defense exhibition featuring only Turkish defense industry companies, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 14 in the capital, Bamako.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Bamako International Conference Center, Mali’s Minister of Security and Civil Defense, Major General Daoud Aly Mohammedine, said the expo will bring together armed forces, government representatives, experts, and industry stakeholders from across Africa and beyond.

Minister Mohammedine emphasized that the event will provide Turkish defense companies with an important platform to showcase their international expertise and technological innovations. “BAMEX will offer an opportunity to highlight the strategic contributions of our Turkish partners in the field of security and defense,” he said.

Mohammedine noted Mali’s strategic location in the Sahel region and the heart of West Africa, underlining its importance for international defense and security cooperation. He added:

“Hosting the expo in Bamako signifies recognition of Mali’s role in promoting peace, security, and stability on the continent. Our strategic partnership with Turkey is a living example of what can be achieved based on trust and shared objectives.

BAMEX 25 is not only an exhibition of military technologies; it also represents a tangible manifestation of Turkey-Africa cooperation. African countries will have the opportunity to explore solutions tailored to their needs, strengthen operational capacities, and establish long-term strategic partnerships. These partnerships will reinforce the security and stability of our nations.”

Amadou Degueni, Chairman of the BAMEX National Organizing Committee, highlighted that the expo will serve as an international meeting point aimed at building a safer, more resilient, and sovereign Africa. He recalled the successful demo organized in cooperation with Turkey at the Bamako National Police School, saying this success inspired the idea for the expo and led to its expansion to accommodate Turkish companies.

The theme of the expo has been set as “Africa at the Center of Global Defense Innovation,” Degueni said, adding:

“With BAMEX, Africa is entering a new era of shaping its own security and building strategic resilience. Bamako aims to become an international hub for defense, territorial security, and sovereignty issues at both national and continental levels. Around 30 Turkish defense companies will participate in the expo, presenting their innovative solutions to official delegations, industry professionals, and a broad audience.”

According to BAMEX Corporate Communications Director Alaattin Doğru, the expo is organized under the auspices of the Presidency of Mali and the Ministry of Civil Security, by the Turkish company Prontaron Defense Industry Organization and Foreign Trade Ltd. (The Peak Defense).

Turkish companies participating in the expo include ASELSAN, Baykar, Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), Roketsan, 3E, Kale Kalıp, Sarsılmaz, TİTRA, STM, Akıncılar, ZSR, Atlas Force, Aktaş Silah, ESSAV, Skydagger, and OTOKAR.
