MSPO 2025: Poland Unveils Haasta UAV Armed with WITU Anti-Drone Missiles

At MSPO 2025 in Kielce, Poland’s Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) showcased the Haasta UAV configured with the Rakieta Antydronowa, a purpose-built anti-drone missile. This demonstration reflects Poland’s direct response to the growing threat of small unmanned aerial systems — a challenge that has reshaped battlefields in Ukraine and beyond. Mounting such missiles on a UAV transforms Haasta from a reconnaissance platform into a mobile aerial interceptor.

The Rakieta Antydronowa is engineered to engage agile, low-flying drones. Measuring 1.8 m in length with a launch weight of 20 kg and a 4.2 kg warhead, it can neutralize targets between 0.5 and 15 km at altitudes up to 1,500 m. Its dual-chamber solid-fuel rocket motor allows speeds of 250 m/s and up to 15 g of maneuverability, guided via telemetry with a range of 25 km and aerodynamic control surfaces for precision strikes.

Haasta itself is a hybrid-powered UAV designed for long endurance and modular payloads. When fitted with two anti-drone missiles under its wings, it provides a mobile layer of air defense capable of protecting maneuvering units and responding rapidly to aerial threats — an advantage over fixed ground-based systems.

What makes this system notable is its balance of cost and effectiveness. Rather than expending expensive surface-to-air missiles on cheap drones, Poland’s solution offers a scalable, affordable option tailored to mass drone threats. This approach mirrors global trends seen in systems like the U.S. Coyote or Israeli interceptors but places emphasis on UAV integration for maximum flexibility.

The Haasta-Rakieta configuration highlights Poland’s commitment to strengthening layered air defense and contributing to NATO’s resilience. By merging a purpose-built missile with a reusable drone, WITU delivers a solution that enhances operational mobility, supports allied deterrence, and positions Poland as a growing player in counter-UAV innovation.
