Portuguese Company Launches Versatile Tactical Communication System

EID, a technology firm based in Portugal, has introduced TerraNEX, a flexible tactical communication system designed to operate seamlessly both on military vehicles and within stationary facilities.

TerraNEX is engineered to be adaptable, allowing armed forces to integrate it into their existing battlefield communication networks. The system supports various IP-based functions, network management software, audio interfaces, and other subsystems, ensuring secure and efficient communication among deployed units.

In a recent field test conducted in Santa Margarida in cooperation with the Portuguese Army, TerraNEX demonstrated its ability to handle multiple radio bands and waveforms, connect to secured military internet networks, and transmit data to soldier-worn devices.

The system was also installed on mobile platforms, including the Portuguese Army’s Pandur 8×8 armored vehicles and M577 armored personnel carriers, for simulation exercises emphasizing mobility.

Martin Bennett, CEO of EID, emphasized to Army Technology that this NATO-compliant system is designed to boost operational readiness and aligns with ongoing efforts to modernize military communication capabilities at home and abroad.

“This tactical integrated communication system is the culmination of extensive collaboration and technological innovation,” Bennett stated.

“It marks a significant advancement in our capabilities and strengthens our longstanding cooperation with the Portuguese Armed Forces.”
