The US’s New Defense Budget Has Been Approved: $901 Billion!

The US House of Representatives approved the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the fiscal year 2026, thereby sanctioning a total defense budget of $901 billion. As the bill passed the House and was sent to the Senate, the budget was recorded as the highest defense expenditure in the country’s history.

In the vote, 312 representatives supported the bill, while 112 voted against it. If the bill passes the Senate and is signed by the President, the 2026 defense program will officially enter into force.

The new budget includes significant provisions aimed at strengthening the US position in the ongoing military competition with Russia and China.

The bill allocates approximately $400 million in military aid to Ukraine, stipulating that this funding will be used for procuring weapons through US-based defense companies. Provisions preventing the reduction of the number of American troops in Europe were also included in the act.

Furthermore, the bill contains regulations providing flexibility in the Caesar sanctions against Syria. Security support for Israel was included in the budget as it currently stands. On the other hand, the repeal of outdated resolutions authorizing military operations in Iraq, which were enacted in 1991 and 2002, was approved as part of the budget.
