Three U.S. B-52s Over Caribbean Signal Readiness, Tracked by OSINT

On 15 October 2025, open-source flight trackers recorded three U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bombers transiting between Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and Cuba. Posts on Flightradar24 and multiple OSINT channels identified the mission set as BUNNY01/02/03 and listed tail numbers 61-0010, 60-0052 and 60-0033.

No official statement from the U.S. Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command, or U.S. Southern Command has confirmed the aircraft’s origin, tasking or intent, so online interpretations remain unverified. Based on the publicly available track data and historical patterns, the most defensible assessment is that the flight reflects a routine long-range training evolution consistent with SOUTHCOM flight profiles rather than a declared operational contingency.

The B-52 remains a long-range heavy bomber in continuous U.S. service since the 1950s. Modernization efforts are moving the fleet toward a B-52J configuration—featuring new Rolls-Royce F130 engines, updated avionics and modern radar upgrades—extending operational service into the 2050s. The platform’s endurance, payload capacity and updated communications make it suitable for global strike training, maritime-strike coordination and theater presence missions.

Visible B-52 activity in the Caribbean is typically interpreted as training and integration—exercising long-range navigation, complex airspace command-and-control and coordination with maritime and allied assets—unless accompanied by an authoritative announcement. Recent U.S. posture changes in the region, including stepped-up counter-narcotics and maritime interdiction efforts, mean such sorties can also serve dual roles in readiness and deterrence.

In sum: three B-52s were tracked over the Caribbean in a profile closely observed by the OSINT community. Without an official mission statement, the conservative professional judgment is that this was a deliberate, standard readiness flight conducted in international airspace. Further attribution of intent should await formal confirmation from relevant U.S. authorities.
