The U.S. Department of State has officially approved a $404 million aircraft equipment sale aimed at modernizing Australia’s MC-55A air fleet.
In a written statement from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), which operates under the Pentagon, it was noted that the sale will include spare parts, maintenance and repair support, as well as technical and logistical services for Australia.
The statement emphasized that the sale will not alter the regional military balance but will enhance Australia’s air operations capabilities and contribute to regional stability. An official notification of the sale has been sent to Congress.
This move highlights the strengthening of defense cooperation between the U.S. and Australia and is considered a significant step in the context of security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region.
