U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the shipment of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine has begun via Germany. He emphasized that the United States will receive full payment for the delivery.
Speaking to reporters after an event in Pennsylvania, Trump stated, “The missiles are being sent from Germany. They will be replaced with new ones. The U.S. will be fully compensated in this process.”
Trump noted that the shipment is taking place under an agreement supported by NATO, and explained that the costs will be covered either directly by European Union member states or through NATO.
Meanwhile, during a recent joint press conference at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump warned that if Russia fails to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine within 50 days, tariffs on Russian products would be doubled.
Trump also shared that during his meeting with Rutte, they agreed that countries possessing available Patriot systems should promptly deliver them to Ukraine.
