US Boosts Patriot Program with $50 Billion Deal as the Netherlands Set to Deliver First Equipment

The US Department of Defense has awarded Raytheon, a division of RTX, a massive $50 billion indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to support the Patriot Air Defence System. The agreement covers the provision of systems, spare parts, and long-term maintenance services, reinforcing the system’s critical role in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Originally announced in March, the contract outlines that support operations will extend through July 2045. This strategic move underscores the growing reliance on Patriot systems among European nations seeking to enhance their defense capabilities.

In line with NATO and the US’s new Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, the Netherlands will be the first country to deliver military equipment as part of this newly coordinated aid framework.
