Anduril Unveils AI-Powered Mixed Reality Helmet for Soldiers: EagleEye

Defense technology company Anduril Industries has introduced EagleEye, a next-generation military helmet developed in collaboration with Meta. The AI-driven mixed reality (MR) system is designed to enhance soldiers’ situational awareness, perception, and command-control capabilities on the battlefield.

AI Support in the Field

Anduril founder Palmer Luckey described EagleEye not as a mere “piece of equipment,” but as an “AI-powered teammate.” Luckey stated, “The idea of integrating an AI partner into the display has been imagined for decades. EagleEye is the first product to make that vision a reality.”

Built on Anduril’s Lattice command-and-control platform, EagleEye is a modular hardware family equipped with heads-up display (HUD), spatial audio technology, and radio frequency detection. Through the helmet, soldiers can access mission briefings, maps, and commands while directly controlling drones and autonomous ground systems.

Designed for 360-Degree Awareness

According to Anduril, EagleEye can integrate live video feeds, use rear and side sensors to warn operators of surrounding threats, and track teammates’ positions in real time to improve battlefield coordination. The product line will include helmet, visor, and glasses variants.

Partnerships with Meta and the U.S. Army

Anduril is already known for its work in border security, drone systems, and autonomous defense technologies. The company also provides software support for Microsoft HoloLens-based MR headsets. The U.S. Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) program, launched in 2018, was transferred to Anduril in February this year after Microsoft scaled back its involvement.

Meanwhile, Anduril’s partnership with Meta, announced in May, reunites Palmer Luckey and Mark Zuckerberg years after their first collaboration. Luckey, the founder of Oculus, had previously sold his startup to Facebook (now Meta) in 2014 before leaving the company three years later. With EagleEye, the two innovators are once again working together on a shared vision for the future of mixed reality in defense.
