Israel has quietly completed the delivery of Rafael’s SPYDER air defense systems to Georgia, following a discreet heavy-cargo operation at Ben Gurion Airport.
Confirmed via Heavy Airlift Operation
On 28 November, a Ukrainian-operated An-124 strategic transport aircraft landed at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Containers and mission equipment belonging to the SPYDER system were loaded onto the aircraft in a dedicated operation. After loading was completed, the An-124 departed for Tbilisi, where the delivery was finalized.
Both the flight path and the containers seen during loading confirm that the shipment consisted of SPYDER components destined for Georgia, effectively validating the transfer.
Capabilities of the SPYDER System
Developed by Israel’s Rafael, SPYDER is a mobile air defense system designed for short- and medium-range engagements. It employs ground-launched variants of the Python-5 and I-Derby missiles, enabling effective interception of aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, and precision-guided munitions.
SPYDER’s fast reaction time, 360-degree engagement coverage, and suitability for protecting maneuvering forces have made it a favored choice among multiple armed forces worldwide.
