Türkiye’s first infantry-type Modern Machine Gun (MMT), developed entirely with domestic and national resources by the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE), has successfully completed rigorous testing and is now ready for serial production. Developed in line with the experience gained from the National Infantry Rifle projects, the MMT is expected to significantly enhance the firepower of the Turkish Armed Forces in the field.
Designed by MKE engineers, the MMT has undergone up to 250,000 firing cycles and successfully passed 40 different NATO tests. The qualification process was completed in less than one year, and the weapon system operates flawlessly with 7.62×51 mm NATO-standard ammunition.
Weighing approximately 8 kilograms, the Modern Machine Gun features an effective range of 1,000 meters and a sustained rate of fire of 750 rounds per minute. Its lighter weight compared to NATO-standard counterparts is among the key factors enhancing its operational advantages in the field.
Equipped with a gas-operated system and a rotating bolt locking mechanism, the MMT delivers reliable performance across diverse climates and harsh environmental conditions. With a six-position adjustable telescopic stock and an ergonomic design prioritizing operator comfort, the weapon’s ammunition is also produced domestically using national resources at MKE-affiliated factories.
