ASELSAN’s DERİNGÖZ 100M/600 Enhances Türkiye’s Strategic Undersea Capabilities

At IDEF 2025 in Istanbul, ASELSAN unveiled the DERİNGÖZ 100M/600, an advanced autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that reflects Türkiye’s expanding competence in maritime defense technologies. Designed for deep-sea missions, the system marks a leap forward in naval surveillance, mine detection, and reconnaissance operations.

Capable of operating at depths of up to 600 meters, the DERİNGÖZ 100M/600 is equipped with high-resolution side-scan sonar, multibeam sonar, obstacle avoidance systems, and multiple communication modes including acoustic, tethered, and wireless. Compact yet powerful, the platform measures 600 mm in diameter, weighs 170 kg, and offers an endurance of up to 15 hours at a scanning speed of approximately 3 knots. Precision navigation is ensured by inertial systems, pressure sensors, and Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), making it highly versatile for missions ranging from seabed mapping to infrastructure inspections.

This version builds upon the earlier DERİNGÖZ 100M, tested in 2023. The 600-meter variant completed all field trials in June 2025 and is now operational. Developed in close collaboration with the Turkish Naval Forces Command, the system prioritizes national technologies and domestically sourced software to minimize foreign dependency.

Compared to similar platforms such as the U.S.-made REMUS 600 or France’s D-19 UUV, DERİNGÖZ 100M/600 stands out for its modular architecture and complete control over hardware and software integration. While some Western counterparts offer longer endurance, ASELSAN’s platform achieves strategic depth with full national control — a milestone in Türkiye’s defense autonomy.

In a region marked by maritime tensions — particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean, Aegean, and Black Sea — DERİNGÖZ strengthens Türkiye’s ability to secure its undersea domains, detect threats early, and safeguard vital assets like pipelines and communication cables. From a military perspective, it enables stealth operations in contested waters without exposing personnel to danger.

More than just a high-tech AUV, the DERİNGÖZ 100M/600 represents a broader shift in Türkiye’s defense industry toward full self-reliance and high-tech naval warfare capabilities. With this platform, Türkiye positions itself to play a leading role in shaping the future of underwater security in its surrounding seas and beyond.
