Croatia and Slovenia Unveil Komodo UGV with Mangart 25 AD Turret for Drone Defense

At SIDEC 2025, Croatian company DOK-ING and Slovenian firm Valhalla Turrets unveiled the MV-8 Komodo + Mangart 25 AD, a heavy unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) designed for counter-drone, air defense, and anti-armor missions. Equipped with a 25×137 mm Rheinmetall cannon, MBDA missile launchers, and HENSOLDT Spexer radar, the system provides short-range protection against aerial and ground threats up to 3 km.

The collaboration, formalized under an October 24 Teaming Agreement, aims to create modular unmanned systems for export markets and NATO allies. The Komodo UGV, weighing 17 tons, is built for operation in hazardous environments and can integrate various mission payloads through its open architecture.

Slovenia’s Ministry of Defence is currently testing the Mangart 25 turret on several platforms, including the JLTV and Perun 4×4, with full certification expected after 2026. The project highlights Central Europe’s growing capability to produce autonomous air defense systems and combat UGVs, drawing interest from 13 NATO countries.
