DART 250 OWE: A Multi-Role UAV for Electronic Warfare and Training

At MSPO 2025, the British defense company Modini unveiled its DART 250 OWE unmanned aerial vehicle, designed to perform diverse missions in electronic warfare, training, and strike simulation. Displayed with its full support equipment, the drone attracted strong interest from military officials and industry representatives, underscoring the growing demand for adaptable unmanned systems in today’s defense strategies.

The DART 250 OWE stands out with its modular and scalable design, enabling rapid adaptation to different mission profiles. Capable of being launched by catapult or rotary systems, it can integrate payloads such as fragmentation sleeves, safe-arm fuses, and configurable attack modules. Unlike traditional target drones, it is not limited to training purposes—it can also be employed in offensive simulations and electronic warfare drills.

Its aerodynamic layout, featuring mid-mounted wings, a cylindrical fuselage, and a V-tail, ensures both efficiency and compactness. Advanced control systems such as “Home on Jammer” and “Home on Emitter” give the platform resilience in contested environments, allowing it to replicate adversary tactics with high accuracy.

Developed through Modini’s spiral development approach, the system has evolved from a simple training drone into a versatile solution capable of advanced EW operations. In this sense, it mirrors the U.S. Air Force’s Valkyrie program, which also emphasizes modularity and cost-effectiveness.

Strategically, the DART 250 OWE addresses NATO’s need for cost-efficient, multi-role UAVs that enhance training, interoperability, and preparedness for hybrid warfare scenarios. With conflicts like Ukraine highlighting the importance of EW and drone swarming, the system reinforces the UK’s position as a provider of advanced unmanned technologies to allied forces.
