Exosens Acquires Phasics to Boost Capabilities in Defense Optical Imaging

On August 27, 2025, French optronics company Exosens announced the signing of an agreement to acquire Phasics, a specialist in optical metrology based on Wave Front Sensing technology. The move is part of Exosens’ long-term strategy to strengthen its technological portfolio and expand its footprint in defense, industry, and life sciences.

Exosens operates across 11 production and R&D sites in Europe and North America, combining innovation with large-scale manufacturing. Its product lines include image intensifier tubes, advanced cameras, and detectors for radiation and particles. Consistent investment in research and development has enabled Exosens to remain at the forefront of optical imaging solutions for defense missions, industrial applications, and scientific research.

By integrating Phasics, Exosens gains access to cutting-edge optical metrology expertise. Phasics’ patented QuadriWave Lateral Shearing Interferometry (QWLSI) technology allows the precise measurement of optical component defects and advanced laser beam analysis. This capability enhances applications in high-resolution microscopy, optical communications, aerospace, and defense technologies.

Exosens CEO Jérôme Cerisier stated that the acquisition reinforces the company’s multi-sensor approach and adds new functionalities to its imaging portfolio. Meanwhile, Phasics CEO Marie-Begona Lebrun highlighted that joining Exosens opens the door to global growth and broader market opportunities.

With more than 1,800 employees worldwide and a listing on Euronext Paris, Exosens is recognized as a major player in global optronics. The acquisition of Phasics strengthens its competitive position, providing new expertise to develop high-value integrated optical systems and to accelerate innovation across multiple industries.
