At MSPO 2025 in Kielce, WB Group introduced the X-FRONTER, a lightweight multi-role personal drone designed to give frontline soldiers direct reconnaissance and combat capabilities. Compact enough to fit into tactical gear, the system weighs just 1.15 kg and measures 300 mm in height, resembling a small thermos when folded. It can be deployed instantly by hand or launcher, reaching speeds of 60 km/h with a flight endurance of 40 minutes and real-time communication up to 1 km.
Unlike conventional micro-UAVs, the X-FRONTER features modular mission payloads, enabling rapid switching between surveillance (day/night cameras), marking devices, or small explosive charges. This adaptability makes it suitable for reconnaissance, precision strikes, or support missions. Notably, the drone can operate in swarm formations, coordinating with multiple units to enhance situational awareness and combat effectiveness.
Building on WB Group’s established expertise in unmanned technologies, the system integrates with Poland’s AMSTA perimeter defense system, allowing autonomous responses to detected threats. Compared to counterparts like the U.S. Black Hornet, the X-FRONTER offers broader payload flexibility and swarm coordination, marking a significant leap in soldier-level unmanned warfare.
Strategically, the X-FRONTER reflects Poland’s ambition to lead European defense innovation, drawing on lessons from Ukraine and modern conflicts where drones are pivotal. Its modularity, combat readiness, and interoperability with NATO systems position it as a potential game-changer in small-unit tactics and export markets.
