Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) attracted attention at IDEF 2025 with its indigenous and integrated solution against drone threats, the TOLGA Drone Defense System (DSS). Designed with high technology and advanced engineering, TOLGA DSS provides multi-layered defense on both fixed and mobile platforms, standing out as a system with rare technology on a global scale.
TOLGA DSS is developed to provide effective protection against low-altitude drones and mini-UAV threats. The system is an integrated platform consisting of radars, jammer units, a command and control center, and various caliber turrets. This allows it to employ both soft-kill (electronic jamming) and hard-kill (kinetic firepower) methods.
Its primary applications include protecting military bases, airports, and critical facilities, neutralizing aerial threats in border areas, and providing mobile drone defense on armored vehicles. The ammunition family developed by MKE further enhances the system’s effectiveness. The 35 mm AHEAD ammunition and 12.7 mm anti-drone rounds provide high destruction power against low-altitude threats.
TOLGA DSS stands out for its flexibility and effectiveness in the field. Thanks to radar and jammer integration, it can respond quickly to different threats and track up to 100 targets simultaneously. Advanced electro-optical sensors allow uninterrupted day-and-night surveillance, while remote command and control capabilities enable operators to manage the system from a safe distance.
The system is equipped with four main turret types:
- 35 mm Revolver Turret System: Effective range up to 4,000 meters, firing rate of 1,000 rounds/min, high efficiency with AHEAD ammunition, EO/IR sensor integration, and STANAG 4569 Level II armor protection.
- 20 mm Revolver Turret System: Range up to 2,000 meters, adjustable firing rate from 1–1,500 rounds/min, BR6 or BR7 ballistic protection, and low recoil.
- 40 mm Automatic Mortar Turret System: Effective up to 2,200 meters, firing rate 325–375 rounds/min, radar and jammer integration.
- 12.7 mm Rotary Cannon Turret System: 1,700 m range (M33 ammunition), firing rate 1,000–1,200 rounds/min, radar integration, and automatic target tracking.
MKE TOLGA DSS represents a world first as a complete system solution. Its fragmented ammunition structure, integrated design composed of seven components, and cost-effective efficiency offer both economic and technological advantages.
